PS5SX2 2.01 Released — Insert a Real PS2 Disc and Play It on Your Jailbroken PS5!

PS5SX2 2.01 is now available with one of the emulator’s most impressive additions yet: experimental support for original PS2 discs. This is a public PS5 homebrew release—not a new exploit, HEN, or jailbreak.
PS2 Disc Auto-Play
Insert an original PS2 disc into a compatible PS5, and PS5SX2 can automatically:
* Detect the disc.
* Create a backup copy on the PS5’s storage.
* Launch the game when the copy is complete.
* Return to the PS5SX2 library when the disc is removed.
The game does not run directly from the Blu-ray disc. PS5SX2 first copies it to storage and launches the resulting image. Interrupted or damaged copies receive an .incomplete marker and will not start automatically.
This experimental feature has only been tested on one original PS5 model with a disc drive. Compatibility with Slim consoles and other disc-drive configurations has not been confirmed.
New Controller and Microphone Support
Version 2.01 also expands support for PS2 accessories:
* USB guitars for Guitar Hero and Rock Band.
* XInput guitars.
* DualShock 3 and other USB PS3 controllers.
* Generic USB gamepads.
* DualSense microphone emulation for games such as Lifeline, Operator’s Side and SingStar.
The emulator automatically recognizes supported guitar games and maps the frets, strum bar, whammy bar and Star Power controls.
Easier Installation
The new ps5sx2-aio.elf combines the previous helper, installer and DiscLaunch payloads into one file. Users can now load a single payload through their payload manager instead of configuring several separate ELF files.
Tested PS5 Firmware
The project’s currently documented test results include:
* PS5 Pro: 10.01 and 11.40.
* Standard PS5 and Slim: 6.02, 8.40, 10.01, 10.60, 11.40, 11.60, 12.00 and 12.70.
Version 2.01 includes a USB-access correction for firmware 13.60, but the complete emulator is not yet listed as officially tested on that firmware..
Requirements
PS5SX2 2.01 requires:
* An already-jailbroken PS5.
* Kstuff or another compatible jailbreak environment.
* ShadowMountPlus.
* The new ps5sx2-aio.elf payload.
* A legally dumped PS2 BIOS.
* Original PS2 discs or personal game backups.
Important Limitations
Disc Auto-Play remains a beta feature and may contain bugs. PS2 game compatibility and performance vary, while USB accessories may behave differently depending on their manufacturer and connection mode.
Users should back up memory cards, save states and important PS5 data before testing. This release does not unlock any additional PS5 firmware and does not provide a jailbreak by itself.
Why This Release Matters
PS5SX2 2.01 makes the experience feel much closer to using a real backward-compatible console. The ability to insert an original PS2 disc, have it copied automatically and launch the game removes several manual setup steps.
Support for USB guitars, PS3 controllers and the DualSense microphone also opens the door to rhythm, karaoke and voice-controlled PS2 games that were previously difficult or impossible to experience properly through the emulator.
