GhostToothAPI Brings Bluetooth Audio Support to Jailbroken PS5 Consoles

A very interesting new development has appeared in the PS5 jailbreak scene. Developer StonedModder has introduced GhostToothAPI, a payload designed to bring Bluetooth audio support to jailbroken PlayStation 5 consoles.

According to information shared by ONE Jailbreak on September 27, GhostToothAPI allows Bluetooth audio devices—including Apple AirPods and Beats headphones—to work with a jailbroken PS5.

This is particularly interesting because the PS5 does not normally provide general-purpose Bluetooth audio pairing for standard Bluetooth headphones. Users generally need compatible USB wireless headsets, adapters, or other supported audio solutions.

GhostToothAPI could therefore give jailbroken PS5 owners considerably more flexibility when choosing wireless headphones.

Why this matters

The importance of GhostToothAPI goes beyond simply adding AirPods support. Projects like this demonstrate how PS5 homebrew developers are gradually gaining the ability to modify or extend parts of the console’s normal hardware behavior.

StonedModder has already been working in this area. His Ghostcontrol project enables additional USB controllers on PS5 and uses the Ghostpad virtual-device infrastructure to present supported controllers to the console. Ghostcontrol has received several updates adding devices such as Xbox controllers, Nintendo Switch Pro controllers, DualShock 3/4 and others.

Interestingly, Bluetooth support had previously been requested in the Ghostcontrol GitHub project, showing that wireless-device support was already something users wanted.

GhostToothAPI now appears to extend this general idea into Bluetooth audio.

What could this mean for PS5 homebrew?

If the project develops further, the interesting part isn’t limited to AirPods. A reusable Bluetooth interface could potentially become useful to other PS5 homebrew developers.

For example, future homebrew applications might be able to make better use of Bluetooth peripherals without depending entirely on Sony’s normal device restrictions.

However, that broader possibility should currently be regarded as potential rather than a confirmed GhostToothAPI feature.

Compatibility still needs clarification

There is one detail I would be careful about before publishing claims of universal compatibility.

The initial announcement says that Bluetooth audio devices now work—including AirPods and Beats—but I have not yet found public technical documentation or a GhostToothAPI repository from StonedModder specifying supported PS5 firmware versions, Bluetooth codecs, tested devices, jailbreak requirements, or known limitations.

Therefore, GoldenGames Nexus should describe the project as newly announced/released and avoid promising that every Bluetooth device works on every jailbroken PS5 firmware until StonedModder publishes those details.
